The Way to Happiness Lesson Plans Grades 6–9 |
|
Suited for grades 6–9, these lesson plans provide interactive lessons for building character and common sense. The Way to Happiness Character Education Program approaches the subject of morals from a unique perspective, focusing on the simple and often overlooked truth that actions that are “good” or “moral” also happen to make good sense. These lesson plans teach common sense values using the book, The Way to Happiness. The values covered in The Way to Happiness provide educators a unique, non-judgmental way to introduce concepts of right and wrong. The Way to Happiness consists of 21 precepts, meaning rules or principles, that guide action and conduct. Many of the precepts are organized into sub-precepts. These lesson plans have been researched and designed by teachers for teachers. A wide variety of team-oriented discussions make this an excellent character education tool that adapts to any schedule and every curriculum. In general, in each lesson you will be giving the students the precept and sub-precepts as written in the book, and will then be guiding the students in class discussion and activities. This helps them understand and relate the precepts to their own lives, both in and out of school. The idea is to bring every student to a full understanding of each precept, and thus enable the students to make correct decisions on their own self-determinism.
